Faraja

The Burundi Orphan Program (BOP) exists for children who have lost one or both parents because of death or abandonment-- or circumstances so difficult that the child cannot live with their family. Each child is living in another family for care, a family that may be struggling to provide for their own children and accepting another at great sacrifice; in many cases, it is a pastor and his family who have received the child. Allow The Children comes alongside these families, by sponsoring the children, to help with their educational costs and basic needs. Every child is also part of a church family. Our hope is that as they are being discipled in the Word these children will grow and become committed believers that minister to others.

Prince Carmel

The Ephphatha School for the Deaf is the first school established in Burundi for deaf children. The children learn to communicate through sign language and have access to the gospel, perhaps for the first time. Most of the deaf children live residentially at the school and return to their families during school breaks. After middle school, each student must pass an exam to continue into the higher grades or they can choose to take a two year course to learn sewing as a way to make a living.

Prince

EDS-316U.jpg

Prince's parents have been unable to provide for him financially. Prince lost his hearing at a young age like many children in Burundi. Poverty and lack of good medical care cause children to lose their hearing due to fevers and diseases that don't get taken care of. Sponsorship enables Prince to attend a deaf school where he will learn about God through sign language and where he will have all of his basic needs met. Prince loves playing soccer and his favorite subject in school is science.
